Daughter of a Hiording Thane, heir to the bloodline of Karanen.  Indra is a young and feisty know-it-all that bosses her two guards around.  She handles herself well and is a good magic student.  She is a Vinga lay member.  She has a nice hunting dog called Joshi.

Cottar to the Karanen household, recently appointed bodyguard to Indra Karanendottir.  Slow but strong best describes this former labourer.  His parents work in the service of the Karanen, but Kemal shows more promise.  Has a dog called Esqun.

A freewoman from the Hiording, that works as a mercenary from the Babeester Gori.  She is strong and big, and on the lookout for some decent armor so she can enter combat with better protection

Cottar to the Karanen household, recently appointed bodyguard to Indra Karanendottir.  Has some artisan experience.  His parents work in the service of the Karanen.  Draayin is determined to become a freeman.  Has a dog caled Nani.

Ernaldori - Colymar Tribe - Sartar
The nephew of two Ernaldori ex-Thanes.  Since Kangharl usurped the throne, the family lost a lot of their priviliges.  His parents have been killed by the Lunar oppressors.

Orlmarth - Colymar Tribe - Sartar
Impoverished townsman who had to take up hunting around town to make a living.  His mother died at childbirth, father was an elderly cottar that worked himself to death under Lunar occupation.  Aylwin has no such plans.

Bagnot resident from Tarsh
Ulic left his family to see more of the world.  He wants to study sorcery, but doing so means getting close with the Lunars, and he likes the Orlanthi more, or so it seems.

Gunnar 'the devoted' Gunnarson

Hiording - Colymar Tribe - Sartar
Gunnar became an initiate to the cult of Orlanth Adventurous, and now he travels around trying to emulate his God and spreading the word.  After the Lunars prohibited Orlanth worship, Gunnar became an initiate of Orlanth Adventurous.  His Father was an Orlanth Priest in Swanton and still lives there.

Brián has no living relatives, and no clan ties, and is a wandering nomad looking for odd jobs or opportunities.  Most people regard him with caution.

Odd 'the dark one'

Grey Dog - Malani Tribe - Sartar
Odd was the bastard son of a freeman of the Grey Dog clan and a slave girl he had his way with.  Odd soon understood his status would leave him little options other than a life in poverty, so he traveled in search of a better life, picking up stealth skills along the way.
